Features of Our Birthing Center

Our maternity care team puts your safety and comfort first to ensure you have as stress-free a delivery as possible. We understand how special it is to bring a new baby into your family, which is why we offer a wide range of services to guarantee your comfort and complete care throughout your labor and delivery. Our Level II state-designated maternity facility features many amenities to make this possible, including:

  • 24/7 in-house anesthesia services
  • 50” Smart TVs
  • Delayed cord clamping
  • Large soaker tubs
  • Peanut balls for labor
  • Private, home-like birthing rooms
  • State-of-the-art labor beds
  • Welcome doula support
  • Wireless fetal monitoring

At the BSA Hazel and Ross Wilson Women’s Center, every birthing suite is private and all-inclusive, with private bathrooms and comfortable queen-sized beds. We also offer a high-risk pregnancy unit on site for women who are experiencing pregnancy complications and need a higher level of care.

Cesarean (C-section) births take place in one of our surgical suites located just steps away from the birthing suites. BSA is the first hospital in Amarillo to offer C-section delivery for expectant moms without opioid painkillers. For an opioid-sparing delivery, physicians still use medication for pain management, but there are fewer unwanted side effects. This means decreased bloating, less constipation and a faster recovery time for mothers. After a C-section, patients and families are taken to one of our Birthing Suites to spend time with their new baby and receive post-partum care.

We offer free, guided tours of our maternity center and a slice of our famous chocolate cake for those who attend.
